They will lead the core development of assigned programs while providing support to team members; requires knowledge of automotive electrical systems, various automotive lighting applications, analog circuits, digital circuits, CAN, and other automotive electrical environment requirements and embedded software for mainstream and advanced lighting such as Adaptive Driving Beam.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with cross functional teams to lead electronics design proposals and tradeoffs with design office, product planning and vehicle teams along with Electrical Engineering and Lighting Engineering to incorporate Exterior Lighting to Functional Objectives.
  • Oversee integration of exterior lighting electronics and software to interface with the vehicle electrical architecture.
  • Lead design reviews of schematics, PCB layouts, wiring schematics, component selection, and other technical support with key stakeholders to verify designs for new and carryover lighting products.
  • Benchmark electronic modules, lighting software and develop business cases to improve TPC for base lamps while allowing scale and feature revenue generation for premium lamps.
  • Create robust CO2 footprint targets and measurement at RFQ phase for given feature content (measured in watts of power during daytime conditions).
  • Work globally to ensure current and future architectures for all vehicles are supported by tier 1 lighting supplier electronics along with standard LED driver modules within Stellantis.
  • Work closely with the chosen suppliers to ensure designs are robust to customer requirements, meet exact function, and can be manufactured without defect - lighting hardware and software (LDMs and Regular LED PC Boards).
  • Key electronics and software oversight for RFQ technical reviews for any new Exterior Lighting component especially headlamp with LDM on CAN and tail lamp with LIN - [internal LDM matching to lighting loads for the project].
  • Help develop and author statements of requirements for software features coupled with hardware needs.
  • Define and carry out all required lamp level bench development specifications to ensure achievement of all functional objectives and assure compliance to program goals.
  • Define system bench tests to ensure software is operating correctly before key plywood buck and/or initial vehicle builds.
  • Participate in supplier assessments and post-test inspection reviews ensuring quality of the electronic circuit design performing analysis through different methodologies (Worst Case Analysis, FMEA, simulations, etc.) and recommend changes to product specifications as necessary.
  • Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, vehicle launch, and/or warranty periods, technical coordination meetings and trips to supplier for component hardware and software technical reviews.
