Position Summary

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer will develop and execute successful fundraising strategies for a portfolio of high net worth individuals capable of making 5, 6, and 7-figure gifts in support of the University's philanthropic priorities. With a curious and diligent approach, the Major Gifts Officer will foster a collaborative culture of donor-centric fundraising strategies and will be responsible for progressive results of $1M+ raised annually. Prospects will be assigned in particular regions in which NYU has a cluster of University-wide highly rated prospects; travel will be required. The Major Gifts Officer will champion a culture of collaboration across UDAR, promote an inclusive work environment where successes across the team are celebrated, and seek opportunities for continuous growth and improvement, both individually and as a team.
