Make your mark for patients
We are seeking a Digital Technology (DT) Expert for US Lab Technology and Operations. This person will lead and oversee technology initiatives to maintain stable operations of existing US Patient Solutions lab environments and to add additional capabilities and value. This position will be based out of UCB's Boston R&D Hub located in Cambridge, MA. This is an onsite position and not a hybrid role.
Salary Range: $97,600 to $128,100
Major Responsibilities
Implement and support all computerized systems associated with US Patient Solutions lab activities, including imaging, high throughput screening systems, and laboratory automation/robotics. Support transversal systems like network storage and database systems
Collaborate with colleagues in Digital Technology Patient Solutions (DTPS) and Patient Solutions research to identify technology requirements and assess the value potential of specific initiatives. Also, maintain relationships with Patient Solutions colleagues to continuously identify opportunities for improving user experience and productivity. Share insights proactively with DT colleagues
Apply understanding of technology in the life sciences research context and insight into technology architecture and delivery models to strengthen and streamline the Patient Solutions lab technology portfolio. Also, proactively survey the commercial and open-source technology landscape for solutions with potential in the UCB lab context
Drive projects from strategic planning and set-up to execution and closure. Manage scope, budget, timelines, resources, and stakeholders to successfully deliver complex technology initiatives. This includes communicating project status, benefits, risks, and issues, and driving decision-making for successful project delivery
Ensure appropriate global DT services are deployed in support of new research instrument purchases. Participate in planning, implementation, and ongoing DT support to achieve the value of such devices as they are acquired by research colleagues
Work closely with the global IT Infrastructure and IT Security teams to ensure that global DT services are maximally available across all UCB US lab sites or define well-documented bespoke approaches for cases where suchglobal services cannot be provided due to specificities of the US lab context
Coordinate and manage the delivery of scientific application support, both as an individual contributor as well as through coordination of external DT lab support engineers and management of their backlog of activities
Major Accountabilities
Technical management of computerized systems supporting wet lab scientific instrumentation in the UCB US scope (Cambridge, Bedford, Durham, Seattle)
Level 3 support for computerized in labs or closely associated to lab activities
Coordination of external DT SME's supporting computerized systems in labs
IT System Owner (ITSO) of computerized systems supporting lab operations
Ensure continued (cybersecurity) compliance of computerized systems supporting lab operations
Required Education and Experience
10+ years of experience in IT in a bio-pharma or Chemistry Enterprise R&D context
6+ years of experience managing SME's in a technical support context
6+ years of Project Management experience

Proven ability to understand and document business processes, with an emphasis on lab workflows across the stages of data acquisition, integration and analysis
Knowledge of technology architectures as well as understanding of "in-silico" approaches to data generation or analysis
Understanding of technology lifecycle across the stages of requirements gathering, design, implementation and decommissioning
Understanding of IT compliance
Hands-on experience in advanced IT technology project and program management, including end responsibility for all aspects of project delivery
Manage financial processes such as project budget management, sourcing and coordination of professional service
