Role Description

We are looking for a hands-on individual to join our team as a Senior Test Engineering Technician. In this role, you will work as a part of our Test Engineering team that focuses on early design validations. The team is focused on developing quick and scrappy tests to validate early stages of hardware going into our product. You will be working closely with the team to create one off fixtures, wire harnesses, prepping DUTs for testing, helping with data collection and root causing problems. This is a great opportunity to learn about battery testing and all the mechanical subcomponents that make our product work! We work closely with design to root cause failures, test countermeasures and find operational limits for our product.

What you'll do:
  • Fabricate one off test fixtures and create LV power and connection harnesses

  • Prep, inspect and test components across different platforms such as PCB, batteries and modules.

  • Work with test engineers to collect test data, and present them to design teams.

  • Troubleshoot complex test instrument issues with the internal team and vendors

  • Document findings and testing metrics for performance traceability

  • Offer recommendations for keeping documentation up to date

What you'll bring:
  • 3+ years of industry experience as a technician

  • Familiarity with using machine shop equipment and power tools such as saws, mills, drills, laser cutter, 3D printer

  • Ability to troubleshoot and triage mechanical and electrical issues and failures

  • Ability to work with minimal documentation and oversight

  • Written and oral communication skills within a group of peers and broader organization

  • Work under the guidance of senior personnel on the team and demonstrate team first approach

  • Comfort using tools such as JIRA, confluence, solidworks
