IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Senior Planner in our Hartford, CT office. As a Senior Planner you will play a critical role in shaping the future of communities by creating plans that balance community needs with environmental sustainability and economic viabilityand provide effective design solutions that meet the client's project goals and budget. This role involves significant interaction withclient's,public officials, developers, and the community, requiring strong leadership and communication skills. Additionally, this roleis responsible forleading complex planning projects and initiatives, and willprovideexpert guidance on land use, zoning,design,transportation, and environmental planning.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead and managestrategic initiatives, ensuring they align with theclient's/organization's goals, meetthe regulatoryrequirementsand are within budget;
  • Setspolicy and guideline directionto support sustainable development and community growth;
  • Collaborate withclient's,government officials, developers, community groups, and other stakeholders to gather input and build consensus on planning initiatives;
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on planning issues, including demographic trends, land use patterns, and environmental impacts;
  • Facilitate public meetings, workshops, and hearings to engage the community and gather feedback on planning proposals;
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyze spatial data and create detailed maps for planning purposes;
  • Completes and reviews project concepts and master plans;
  • Completes and reviews site evaluation studies, reports, and entitlement drawing submissions;
  • Provides technical support for condemnation project work;
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and planning documents to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders;
  • Project management on some projects, including attending meetings, budgeting, scheduling,proposalsand billing;
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior planners and planning technicians, fostering professional development and growth;
  • Executive client engagement.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert in regulatory compliance and sustainability;
  • Skilled in ArcGIS,AutoCAD,Adobe Suite, and SketchUp;
  • Strongresearchand technicaldesign skills;
  • Stronganalysis andproblem solvingskills, with an attention to detail;
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Excellentorganizational skills, particularlywith regard toprojectmanagement;
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships;
  • Ability tomentor, train, motivate and lead others;
  • Demonstrates leadership traits in the Project Management career path;
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges;
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Ability to travel up to15% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Planning, Environment Studies, Architecture, or Arts, or equivalentrequired;
  • 14years of experience minimumrequired,16preferred, inthe planning industry;
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred;

OR

  • Associates degree, or certificate,in Planning, Environmental Studies, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Arts, or equivalent preferred;
  • 18years of experience minimumrequired,20preferred, inthe planning industry;
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) Certification preferred.

Salary Range $95,000- $138,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options. In addition, IMEG Corp. provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
