Summary:

The Hershey Company West Hershey plant is a Union plant that produces products such as White & Milk Chocolate Paste, Kisses, Nuggets, Milk Bars, Almond Bars, Rolo, Syrup, Cookies, and Creme in a high-speed complex environment.

At West Hershey, the hourly payroll processing is a key operational/accounting role. The payroll coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all accounting, pay, and operational controls are in place and providing the needed controls around this critical plant operation area. Payroll is one area that requires an individual who is attentive to detail, current on various tax and reporting requirements, and can ensure that daily deadlines are met.

This is an in-person job with Monday through Friday expectations, plus weekends or holidays as needed.

In addition, the Payroll Coordinator will:



  • Oversee the editing and verification process of the hourly workforce's daily time punches into the Hershey automated payroll process
  • Providing customer service by answering payroll questions in person, by telephone, or by e-mail
  • Process the weekly/bi-weekly payroll for the plant's hourly employees
  • Ensure that all Sarbanes Oxley controls are in place and functioning adequately throughout the year.
  • Maintain PA 30 (i.e., taxes, garnishments, etc.) on a timely basis
  • Maintain PA 40 associated with weekly poster movements for hourly employees
  • Other duties as defined by the Payroll Manager/ Senior Accountant
  • Analyze payroll and timekeeping data continuously to identify potential for missing or erroneous data. Analyze processes to suggest opportunities to increase the efficiency and accuracy of processes

Minimum Requirements and Education:



  • Associate degree or equivalent education and/or experience preferred.
  • Automated time and attendance system experience and/or General Accounting experience preferred (SAP payroll experience is a plus.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Understanding of how employee attendance practices impact payroll (FMLA, STD, Vacation, etc.) preferred
