Summary:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, this position is responsible for the maintenance, oversight, and integrity of the financial systems and processes that support JHH and JHHS. This role will manage the financial activities, service center support, and chargebacks for a portfolio of services.
Working closely with several business and budget offices and all financial stakeholders throughout the organization, this position will implement funding decisions within the budgetary constraints of each funding entity, calculate and implement pricing decisions on service center chargebacks, and perform financial modeling and projections for long-term sustainable funding sources.
Other responsibilities include:
Directing and managing daily operational activities to include personnel, support functions, record keeping equipment tracking of purchased, leased, and capitalized assets acquired through various Johns Hopkins entities
Driving budget meetings and coordinating forecast updates as necessary
Working closely with the Legal Department to put contracts and license agreements in place
Providing oversight and adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Developing business case analyses for services and initiatives
Identifying cost efficiency and opportunities to reduce costs and maximize revenue. Recommend changes for increased efficiency
Benchmarking industry standards and peer results, pricing of services, fact-based funding model development, metric reporting, and TCO / breakeven / ROI analyses for executive leadership.
Oversee the accounts payable process for thoroughness and timely payment to vendors.
Organizes and monitors financial data required by various entities including internal management, auditors, regulatory bodies, government, and benchmarking consultants.
Evaluate new and existing laws and regulations and their impact on the operations and budget
Manages third-party consultant contracts.
Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of financial principals, and concepts, including GAAP, and financial processes in accordance with institutional financial directives; budget preparation
Understanding of laws and regulations including futures, etc.
Advanced knowledge in the use of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing is required. Packages include: SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Access, Excel, and Word plus university-specific accounting & reporting packages.
Utilize various software and tools as needed: Business Object, Tableau, MS Access, MS Excel, graphing and charting, PowerPoint, and others
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, accounting, Business, Clinical Science, or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred. Work experience (beyond the required years) may be substituted for the degree on a two (2) years of experience to one (1) year of education basis.
Work Experience:
* Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in financial/accounting and financial management, including planning, directing, monitoring, organizing, and controlling the monetary resources of a department, vendor management, budget planning, hardware/software products, Departmental and JHH/JHHS policies and procedures.
* Requires one (1) year of prior supervisory experience leading teams
* Healthcare, hospital, physician group practice, managed care organization, consulting, IT Developer (script, Java/script, PHP, etc.) experience preferred
Salary Range: Minimum $37.87 per hour - Maximum $66.28 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
