General Purpose: Ensure that all equipment is operating effectively and efficiently. Must have excellent proficiency in preventative maintenance, over-hauls, modification, fabrication, welding, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair. Must also have working knowledge of machine shop equipment and excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment, following all safety procedures
- Support the installation of new equipment
- Assist the operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
- Ensure all repairs are documented
- Foster teamwork consistent with our company and plant mission, vision, and core values
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Follow all DFA GMP's and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
- Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
- Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived
- Exhibit the values and ethics of DFA through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement
- Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
- Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must have two (2) years of formal mechanical/electrical education certification or equivalent work experience doing maintenance type work
- SAP experience preferred
- Training program provided with financial incentives upon completion
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to perform electrical work (change pump motors, diagnose motor control problem, etc.)
- Must know pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders
- Must be able to use standard maintenance tools in a safe manner
- Must have the ability to perform minor projects from planning to installation. (Typically, this includes non-sanitary piping, drain lines, vacuum lines)
- Must have the ability to perform routine repairs in a safe and timely fashion (rebuilding product/water pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC, VFD's, sanitary valves, piping leaks)
- Must have the ability to perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
- Must have the ability to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (tig/stick)
- Must have the ability to follow process control computer variables and schematics and diagnose system problems
- Must have the ability to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
- Must have good interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with others
- Must be able to successfully complete a written maintenance test conducted by Maintenance Manager
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
