Job Summary

An Enterprise Monitoring Systems Engineeris responsible for supporting the organization's infrastructure, services, and application monitoring systems.

With our cloud-first strategy, we are expanding our monitoring capabilities to include cloud-based environments. The ideal candidate should have experience in both on-premises and cloud monitoring, as well as a solid understanding of cloud-native tools and technologies.

The candidate must understand technologies commonly utilized in an IT infrastructure and application monitoring program and will be expected to perform configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of monitoring tools, as well as analyzing and reporting on system performance metrics.

Essential Functions
  • Assist in the management and configuration of infrastructure and application monitoring toolsacross both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Respond to monitoring alerts and perform initial troubleshooting stepsto ensure system reliability.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of monitoring configurations, systems, and processes while facilitating knowledge transfer.
  • Collaborate with the wider IT team to ensure system availability and performance, including cloud-based services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and problems, using established DS procedures for problem and situation management.
  • Analyze system and application performance data, generating alerts/reports for proactive issue resolution.
  • Participate in SAFe/Agileproject planning and tracking.
  • Support cloud migrations (Lift & Shift)and ensure seamless monitoring across hybrid environments.
  • Participate in project designs and execution, aligning with operational and service-level agreements.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's Degree/Technical school or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP, SSH, Syslog, Load Balancers, and VPC networking.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray, and Everbridge.
  • Experience with Lift & Shift migrations from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Familiarity with AWS native services like S3, SQS, SNS, IAM, EC2, Route 53, Certificate Manager, and Auto Scaling Groups.
  • Experience with SolarWinds, Nagios, Dynatrace, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, Microsoft SCOM, or similar.
  • Understanding of Cribl, Splunk, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), or similar tools.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Shell, or JavaScript to automate monitoring tasks.
  • Experience working with Linux and Windows environments.
  • Ability to identify and resolve monitoring-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to work across teams and create clear documentation.
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation, which includes M-F business day ServiceNow queue monitoring & incident remediation and may require work outside of scheduled hours.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of experience in systems engineering, including the implementation and support of system and infrastructure services
