Description

Position Summary

The Asset Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of the company's equipment and systems. This role involves analyzing equipment performance, identifying issues, developing maintenance strategies, and implementing reliability improvements to maximize asset availability and reduce downtime.

The role also develops long-term plans for Equipment Reliability improvements throughout multiple campuses. Work with site leadership to develop, improve, and strengthen our preventive and predictive work, and drive breakdown time down. Develop and assist the team in the full use and benefit of a highly functional computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Primary Duties

  • Works closely with the Maintenance and Facilities Managers and site leaders to develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies, to evaluate and optimize equipment reliability and performance.
  • Provides plant engineering with technical support on reliability issues.
  • Participates in engineering activities that improve the reliability of equipment.
  • Lead and coach sites on Root Cause Failure Analysis, Reliability Maintenance, and preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Investigate and analyze relevant variables to avoid potential impacts on processes and assets.
  • Compile and analyze performance metrics, report on and recommend corrective measures to meet acceptable reliability standards.
  • Support capital projects by incorporating reliability design and maintainability into the design of new equipment and processes.
  • This position requires considerable interaction with plant leadership teams, engineering, corporate functional leadership, external support, and contractors;
  • Utilizes CMMS and other reliability databases to identify bad actors.
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, and monitors an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
  • Identify Capital needs with respect to production, environmental, safety, building & grounds and be responsible for them from inception to completion. Includes estimating and funds procurements, specifying equipment, working with vendors and contractors, supervising safe onsite work, maintaining budget and scheduling with the plant production.
  • Will maintain and improve performance of the company's physical assets and monitor maintenance labor and material costs to achieve plant performance goals;
  • Drives improvement of maintenance and reliability performance/ work processes using KPIs;
  • Perform monthly analysis, stablish maintenance strategy and improvements proposals for bad actors to be eliminated and drive bad actors elimination by organizing and facilitating site RCPS workshops within the site maintenance team;
  • Develops and implements the Reliability Strategy at the sites, including Asset Criticality Assessment, PM Strategy (inspection task list & frequency) and Spare Parts analysis, to support the directives for the plant and monitors reliability performance and increase;
  • Monitors maintenance and reliability spend across the region including labor, parts, and equipment; identifies trends and leads gap correction efforts;
  • Perform monthly analysis, stablish maintenance strategy and improvements proposals for bad actors to be eliminated and drive bad actors elimination by organizing and facilitating site RCPS workshops within the site maintenance team;
  • Review and optimize asset criticality, equipment maintenance strategies preventive, predictive and non-interventive strategies, and emergent work protocols;
  • Ensures proactive (preventive and predictive) work strategies (frequency, task lists and critical parts) are aligned with asset criticality analyses to ensure the most efficient and effective maintenance processes.
  • Conducts and facilitates Root Cause Failure Analysis for significant or repeat equipment failures, including FMEA as needed, and implements the maintenance Strategy improvements to eliminate recurrence;
  • Ensures best practice utilization of CMMS systems including preventive and predictive maintenance procedures, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the dataset and files.

Supplemental Data

  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, heat, and machinery.
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS, RCA, and working in a regulated environment.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required based on project needs.

Training, Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field (for Asset Reliability Engineer).
  • Proven experience in maintenance, reliability engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in Reliability Engineering role, or five (5) or more years in a Maintenance Engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability analysis tools and techniques (RCA, FMEA, RCM).
  • Experience with condition monitoring technologies and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and OSHA regulations is strongly preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and best practices
  • Familiar with Autocad, BMS systems, CMMS and FM programs highly desirable.
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
