JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the Assistant Gas Plant Manager is to support the Gas Plant Manager in the oversight and management of all Dunn Gas Plant (DGP) operations. This includes the management of DGP production and personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Open plant daily, so that it is ready for first shift at 6:00am.
  • Oversee plant operations until Gas Plant Manager arrives.
  • Create work orders for Pullers and Fillers in TIMS.
  • Initiate automated branch orders in TIMS and ensure all efforts are made to fulfill orders completely.
  • Compile daily orders to determine priorities for plant filler personnel.
  • Communicate with branches to request liquid cylinder orders and manage special requests.
  • Discuss any abnormal requests or automated quantities, as well as off schedule deliveries or warehouse shipments.
  • Assess daily tasks and direct employees based on business needs.
  • Plan accordingly to support the gas plant team and be prepared to step in to help with plant operations as needed.
  • Communicate with Sorters, Fillers, and Pullers throughout the day to keep up with workload.
  • Respond to calls and emails in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assure bulk tanks are at appropriate levels.
  • Record tank readings and interface with Messer webpage.
  • Responsible for Forklift maintenance and lift Daily Inspection Form filling.
  • Complete and maintain all company-required paperwork.
  • Manage driver Daily Vehicle Inspection Report/Manifest.
  • Present a professional image in appearance.
  • Ensure that the work area is well-maintained and clean.
  • Comply with safety regulations and requirements.
  • Attend training as required.
  • Assist Plant Manager in the completion of any required training for employees.
  • Maintain and enforce a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Oversee projects outside of daily production.
  • Handle Plant Manager duties when needed.
  • Assist Plant Manager in performing other duties as directed.
  • Work in collaboration with all gas plant employees.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma required.
  • Reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
  • Computer experience is required.
  • Problem solving and multitasking skills required.
  • Punctuality and critical thinking skills required.
  • At least 1 year experience managing employees and production required.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral, required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in plant oversight and operations preferred.
  • General knowledge in handling hazardous materials or gases preferred.
  • Willing to be certified in forklift operation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must handle heavy cylinders and materials.
  • Must work with hazardous materials.
  • Stand and walk for up to eight-hour periods.
  • Roll two cylinders at a time continuously.
  • Grip cylinder handles and caps continuously.
  • Bend at the waist and knees frequently.
  • Use feet to push cylinders into interlocking position and to help move cylinders as they are rolled continuously.
  • Use full body force to tighten ratchet straps frequently.
  • Able to twist cylinder caps continuously.
  • Operate a Forklift and other equipment or machinery.
  • Management and oversight of personnel and operations.
  • Answer calls and emails related to plant activity and production.
  • Prioritization of multiple workloads.
  • Loud noise levels.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions.
