Scientist Associate I - Water R&D

As an Associate Scientist joining the Water R&D team you will assist in the development of solutions that make a world of difference in drinking, waste, and recreational water to ensure public safety.

Do you have technical curiosity, an aptitude for learning and discovery, and are motivated to solve problems? In this role, you will perform a variety of scientific activities to develop new microbiological products that integrate with instrument technologies. You will participate on a technically focused team to solve problems. You will build knowledge to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from experimental results.

What you can expect in this role:
  • You will be working in a laboratory environment in Discovery and New Product Development.

  • You will follow procedures, prepare materials, design and perform experiments, gather data, carry out analyses and reach conclusions.

  • You will document experiments and other lab activities, such as preparing reports and summaries, presenting results and conclusions, and maintaining appropriate records.

  • You will collaborate and communicate with colleagues on engineering teams and other related areas to support development of new products.

  • You will conduct testing using new and existing IDEXX microbiology products and instrumentation.

  • You will maintain knowledge of products, procedures, and developments in the field and industry.

  • You will adhere to appropriate procedures and regulatory requirements.

What you will need to succeed:
  • BS in Microbiology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

  • 0-2 years of experience with laboratory bench techniques and instrumentation skills as well as experience planning experiments and performing data analysis.

  • Be able to effectively work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Be highly analytical with problem solving skills with the ability to organize and plan work.

  • Interested in the integration of microbiology with innovative instrument systems.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience in microbiology, with specific focus on bacterial culture, identification, agar plating, aseptic and sterile technique is desired.
