A Postdoctoral associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hunter King in the Department of Physics, Rutgers University-Camden:
This one-year position (with opportunity to apply for support for an additional year) in Dr. King's laboratory, will focus on projects in 'mechanical ecology' - applying a physical perspective to understand how organisms manipulate their bodies and environments to face challenges - and/or other soft-matter phenomena according to common interests with the applicant.

The ideal applicant would be:
-a mechanics-minded generalist with interests in some combination of experience in physics of solids/fluids/grains/contact, transport phenomena, thermodynamics and optics
-resourceful and self-determined such as to thrive in a small research group with distributed focus
-inclined toward the design and rigorous characterization of custom instruments and table-top apparatus
Responsibilities will include:
1. Driving experimental research projects of interest to the lab.
2. Contributing writing toward journal publications and proposals for external funding.
3. Co-mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in independent projects.
4. Aiding in the maintenance and management of laboratory instrumentation and space.
