Job Responsibilities Prepare and test samples from manufacturing or other handling processes using qualitative and quantitative analysis, with the goal of determining if substance meets standards/requirements. Have a thorough understanding of chemical testing equipment and processes and the ability to employ a variety of methods during the normal course of lab analysis work. Prepare documents that report the results of lab work and that relay product specifications to customers. Development and maintenance of laboratory test results record keeping systems. Responsible for minor lab-related equipment troubleshooting and repair. The position has a role in preserving workplace safety and the use of appropriate safe materials handling. Will work with hazardous materials.
- Successfully conduct multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision
- Work in a safe and efficient manner always.
- Ability to have a flexible schedule as production needs change.
- Collect and handle samples from production and storage areas.
- Carry out raw material testing to allow product release as per product requirements.
- Carry out routine laboratory reactions using a wide range of laboratory equipment.
- Make sure that laboratory systems and equipment comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Take part in Business Improvement activities within the laboratory.
- Record, organize, report, and interpret data.
- Review, update and compose documents, methods, and procedures.
- Prepare samples and coordinate analysis of samples with outside lab.
- Prepare shipments of chemicals and products, up to 5-gallons in size.
- Check work of colleagues where necessary.
- Work with other colleagues including production, engineering, and analytical staff.
- Contribute to other projects and plans not specifically noted to reach divisional objectives
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Chemical, Laboratory or Science bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
- 1-2 years of experience working in an analytical lab preferred.
- Experience performing wet chemistry.
- Experience using the following instrumentation Particle Analyzer, XRF, ICP-OES and HPLC preferred.
- Ability to record laboratory experiments,
- Ability to present information - both written and verbally.
- Ability to learn and understand policies and procedures.
- Ability to recognize and communicate to management any difficulties or problems as related to this position's essential duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to work within a team group environment.
- Strong computer base skills - MS Office.
- Support the company policies.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
