Description

The Mechanic Trainee is an entry level position responsible for assisting more experienced technicians on jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment. Trainees must be able to perform independently under close supervision. Examples of the types of machinery that the candidate must be able to evaluate and repair include internal combustion lift trucks, electric lift trucks, allied products, and diesel engines. Extensive on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning must be successfully completed to remain in the technician training program. The Mechanic Trainee will demonstrate initiative, commitment to team work, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Mechanic Trainee will advance in Classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations


  • Performs basic safe machine operation & inspection
  • Performs the following tasks on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install, disassemble and reassemble, perform minor adjustments
  • Possesses the ability to locate lubrication requirements and service machines in work area
  • Works as helper in field service with experienced technician as required
  • Follows 5-Star Contamination Control procedures
  • Performs shop, yard, and job site clean-up as required
  • Operates wash rack equipment and properly cleans equipment as required
  • Creates comprehensive, timely, and accurate service reports.
  • Keeps accurate records of all work
