Director of Finance- Pacific Region Remote Texas $145,000 to $160,000 DOE As the Director of Data Engineering, you will be responsible for leading and transforming GMR's Data Estate, which encompasses the entire data lifecycle from ingestion, storage, processing, analysis, to visualization. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust data solutions using on-premises SQL Server warehouses and Azure based Data Lake, as well as implement and integrate advanced AI data and engineering solutions using cutting-edge technologies such as Azure Databricks, Azure OpenAI, LLM modeling, PowerBI, Python, and PySpark. You will report to the VP of IT Applications and manage a team of data engineers, analysts, and scientists who are passionate about delivering data-driven insights and solutions that support GMR's mission and vision. You will also collaborate with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and external partners to understand the business needs and expectations and align the data engineering strategy and roadmap with the business objectives and IT architecture. As the Director of Data Engineering, you will be a key driver of innovation, excellence, and diversity in GMR's data capabilities and culture.
Summary:
- Define and execute the data engineering strategy and roadmap for GMR, aligning with the business objectives and IT architecture.
- Manage the full lifecycle of data engineering projects, from requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, to monitoring and optimization.
- Ensure the quality, reliability, security, and scalability of GMR's Data Estate, following best practices and standards for data governance, data quality, data modeling, data integration, data warehousing, and data lake.
- Leverage cloud-based technologies and platforms such as Azure Databricks, Azure OpenAI, LLM modeling, PowerBI, Python, and PySpark to build and deploy AI data and engineering solutions that enhance GMR's capabilities and performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, analysts, and scientists, providing technical guidance, feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and external partners, ensuring the alignment and delivery of data engineering solutions that meet the business needs and expectations.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in data engineering and AI, and evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools that can improve GMR's data capabilities and competitive edge.

- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the data engineering team.

- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes.

- Project Management:
- Manage multiple data engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define project scopes, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Technology and Innovation:
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data engineering.
- Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance data processing capabilities.

- Ensure compliance with data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive information.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data engineering processes and systems.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. Masters degree in related field preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, data lake, data integration, data analysis, and data visualization.
- 5+ years of experience in leading and managing data engineering teams and projects.
- Expertise in SQL Server, Azure Databricks, Azure OpenAI, LLM modeling, PowerBI, Python, PySpark, and other data engineering and AI technologies and tools.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, data modeling, data architecture, and data security principles and practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into data engineering solutions.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor data engineering teams and stakeholders.
