Reports To: Director, Research & Insights

Salary: $65,000-$75,000 commensurate with experience

Job Summary

The research and insights team provides stakeholders with insights to inform hospitality experiences with the guest in mind. The research analyst is a valued consumer consultant who partners with our clients, operators, chefs, marketing teams, sales teams, and others to help them identify the best opportunities to elevate the hospitality experience for their customers. This individual will work closely with these teams to understand their insights needs, then develop and execute best-in-class research to address specific business objectives. You will execute a variety of methodologies, ranging from syndicated market research to custom surveys and focus groups, to better understand current and future customer needs. You will be responsible for supporting in the development, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of both syndicated and primary research.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supporting the execution of qualitative and quantitative research studies
  • Analyzing primary data gathered via qualitative and quantitative studies as well as secondary research pulled from syndicated sources, such as Nielsen and Datassential, to determine consumer preferences and identify improvement and growth opportunities
  • Serving as subject matter expert on at least one industry (B&I, C&U, K-12, hospitals, senior living) that Compass serves
  • Identifying key themes surfacing from both primary and secondary research and turning them into actionable findings that move the business forward
  • Effectively supporting multiple projects at one time delivering consistent quality
  • Developing written reports and PowerPoint presentations to visualize data and convey findings and recommendations to clients, operators, business analysts, and executive audiences

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in psychology, marketing, market research, business analytics, computer science, statistics, economics, or a related field
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience preferred in quantitative and/or qualitative research and/or statistical/analytical techniques
  • Understanding of how, why, and when consumer insights fits into businesses at large
  • Experience with using and interpreting syndicated data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Datassential)
  • A talent for seeing the patterns behind data and understanding what these patterns might mean for stakeholders
  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment, in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and proficient in proofing work
  • Proven intellectual and problem-solving skills that allow you to get to the heart of critical business issues
  • The ability to communicate difficult concepts in a clear, straightforward way at all levels of an organization (especially to non-technical audiences)
  • Natural curiosity, a can-do attitude, and comfortability with ambiguity
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience in the food industry is preferred but not required
  • Experience with survey platform(s), such as Qualtrics, Decipher, or Survey Monkey, is preferred but not required
  • Experience with Tableau is preferred but not required
