The internship program at Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations is intended to provide college / university students and recent graduates the opportunity to use and develop skills they have learned in the classroom by working at our state-of-the-art production facility, and to provide experience and insight into the culture.

Summary

The Facilities Maintenance team oversees the management of 4 million square feet of building space and 1,100 acres at the Volkswagen Chattanooga site. The intern will gain practical experience in reading and interpreting specifications, developing standards based on those specifications, auditing performance, and identifying areas for continuous improvement within facilities maintenance operations.

This position will start on June 2nd 2025 and end on Aug 8th 2025.Our internships are full-time positions (40 hours/week). Candidates will be expected to be available to work during normal business hours (Monday - Friday; exact hours will vary by position and some positions might require work on Saturdays).

To be eligible for the internship program, candidates are required to be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated from one within 6 months prior to the start date of the internship. At this time, we are unable to consider OPT/CPT/International candidates

Responsibilities

  • Develop and audit standards for continuous improvement in facilities maintenance.
  • Collaborate with facilities specialists to assess and evaluate work requirements.
  • Create and refine specifications for maintenance work, and coordinate with contractors for repairs or new equipment installations

Qualifications

  • A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for creating reports, tracking data, and maintaining documentation.

What Technology or Technical Data will the Intern have access to?

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Access to maintenance data and project management tools as required.
