Position Summary

Tactical Air Support, Inc. is seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to join our Maintenance team. The Maintenance Division supports Tactical Air's Air Operations' fleet of fighter aircraft with over 75 years of combined experience in tactical aviation maintenance and more than 30 years of military adversary contract maintenance. The Maintenance staff are a dedicated team comprised of experienced A&P-certified and tactical aircraft mechanics, technicians, and logisticians who all work towards ensuring safe and seamless ground maintenance operations. The Aircraft Painter position is an integral part of a dedicated, elite team of professionals who get things done, enjoy working together, and are committed to growing with this fast-moving company.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate for the Aircraft Painter position will be professional, highly productive, disciplined, team-oriented, technically astute, and responsive to the needs of the company, colleagues, and customers.



  • Preparing surfaces to be painted by cleaning, sanding, and masking areas not to be painted.
  • Applying paint or coating to aircraft parts and structures using various techniques such as spraying, brushing, and rolling.
  • Mixing paints and primers to the correct consistency.
  • Inspecting painted surfaces to ensure smoothness and quality of finish.
  • Ensuring that all work meets safety and quality standards and complies with company procedures.
  • Keeping work areas clean, organized and maintaining equipment in good condition.
  • Apply decals and leading-edge tape as required.
  • Manage the respirator program.
  • Any other duties as assigned by lead/manager.


Requirements



  • High School/GED graduate with 3-6 years of experience as an aircraft painter, or in a similar role.
  • Previous work-related experience preferably in the military or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
  • Good knowledge of paint mixing and application techniques.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of safety practices and regulations.
  • Good physical dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Must pass a respirator physical exam and pulmonary function test to obtain respirator certification.
  • Must be willing to relocate if not within commuting distance to Reno/Stead Airport.
  • Travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a DOD security clearance.


Desired Experience/Skills



  • Aircraft paint and final finish or equivalent schooling desired.


Physical Demands



  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance, if required).
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Regularly ascend/descend stairs and/or ladders.


Work Authorization and Environment



  • Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
  • Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) required.
  • Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications required.
  • Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), and electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
  • May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
  • Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required.
  • Occasional travel to various work sites throughout the U.S. may be required.
