Job Summary
The role of the Quality Engineer III is to assist Quality Manager in the maintenance and communication of the companies Quality Management System. Helps with planning and implementation of company procedures and work instructions. Works to ensure customer quality requirements and ISO standards are met. This position also aids the Quality Admin department to assure quality requirements and timely delivery to the customer are met. Also provides solutions to issues impacting process and product quality. Works with all functions to ensure quality requirements are recognized and satisfied. Conducts internal audits to ensure continued compliance to QMS and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Essential functions of Level II
  • Train, coach, and mentor junior level QEs as required.
  • Expert at creating and documenting First Article Inspections (FAI) and able to train other on AS9102 format reporting
  • Review proposals and bids to identify customer specifications and requirements. collaborate with engineering team to evaluate and mitigate technical risks and improve processes and technologies.
  • Review NCR and RMA dispositions and provide process or design changes recommendations and process customer requests for deviation or waiver.
  • Assist Supply Chain in ensuring customer requirements and specifications identifying and are effectively flowed down to suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Reviews and approves recommends revisions to Quality procedures, instructions and Training. Ensures document revision control and Training records.
  • Approves completed FAIs and Compliance Documentation (CoCs, RoHS, REACH, etc) prior to customer submittal
  • Reviews and approves internal audit schedules, check sheets, results and reports, and reviews and approved recommended corrective actions.

Technical and Behavioral Competencies
  • Proficient knowledge of utilizing handheld and surface plate inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges and standard inspection tools such as pin gauges, thread gauges, and other applicable tools
  • DoD or Aerospace manufacturing experience (Boeing preferred)
  • Proficient knowledge of utilizing CMM equipment
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Advanced computer skills

Education and Experience:
  • Education & professional experience of Level II
  • Minimum of 7 years Quality Engineering experience
  • 3+ years' experience within aerospace, automotive, or defense manufacturing environment required (Boeing preferred)

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, inspection equipment, and handle and feel parts of various size
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and crouch occasionally throughout a shift
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift 50lb moderately throughout a workday
  • Ability to focus vision for: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and adjusting to sharp focus
  • Noise conditions can be moderate to extreme. Hearing protection will be provided if needed and/or by request
  • Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
  • Moving mechanical parts and vibration
  • Exposure to hot metal and machining components
  • Manufacturing environment where temperatures drastically change from season to season
  • Fast-paced environment

Work Hours/Travel:
  • 1st shift work schedule: 5 - 9-hour shifts (45-hour work week)
  • Overtime as necessary (including occasional weekends if needed)
  • Flexible scheduling in agreement with manager
