Valiant Integrated Services is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for compiling payroll data, including hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues from time sheets and other records.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:



  • Duties of a Payroll Practitioner include the following:
  • Compile payroll data such as hours worked, taxes, insurance, and union dues to be withheld, and employee identification number, from time sheets and other records
  • Prepare computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computer wages and deductions and posts to payroll records
  • Review wage computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Record change affecting net wages such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and loan payments for each employee to update master payroll records
  • Record data concerning transfer of employees between departments
  • Prorate expenses to be debited or credited to each department for cost accounting records Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
  • Keep records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
  • Prepare and issue paychecks
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Senior Global Payroll Manager

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Experience of managing high volume, high pace payrolls with collective bargaining associates.
  • Experience of working within a payroll platform is essential, working knowledge of ADP Work Force Now would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of working with a timekeeping system preferable, knowledge of Deltek Costpoint would be highly desirable.
