Join us for a 6 month co-op internship as the IT PMO Program Organization Improvements Intern

Location: Ideally looking for someone driving distance to our HQ in Westbrook, Maine to come on-site at least on a hybrid basis.

The IT Project Management Organization is a globally distributed team of 30 experts in technical project delivery. This team within the IT PMO supports our global cloud native Lab Information Management System (LIMS) rollout. This program is a highly complex collection of both technical and business projects and is considered one of IDEXX's top priorities.

In this internship role you would...

  • You would be directly working on process improvements and automations within the IT PMO
  • Working on different ways of utilizing program management and project management tooling by researching the capabilities of the tool and documenting findings.
  • You would be using your strong curiosity and desire to find solutions to improve PMO processes using automations
  • You will be exploring the capabilities of Power BI to expand the capabilities of existing dashboards or creating new dashboards
  • You will be exploring the capabilities of the powerful tool, Microsoft Project

Day-to-day asks are likely to include:

  • You will work side by side with the IT program managers to drive efficiencies in project tracking, resource leveling, work progress, visibility, and clarity.
  • You will do project work related to reorganization and increasing efficiencies and optimizing the tools like Microsoft Project and Power BI
  • You will do things like organize the team's wiki and all the links to get make everything accessible, with the goal of one-stop shopping.
  • You will do research projects related to pulling data together to run reports

Ideal skills for this role include:

  • Project Management Tooling, especially Microsoft Project (MS Project)
  • Power BI (PowerBI) skills; the team has an existing Power BI dashboard, but looking for someone who could explore the capabilities of Power BI and help the team augment it.
  • Knowledge of Confluence and SharePoint is a plus
  • Someone with drive and curiosity to try things and come up with different solutions for the team.
  • Someone who does not like to do anything manually - of the mindset that you want to automate as much as possible.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to collaborate and work others well.

Requirements for the role include:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program majoring in Business Project Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must have completed at least one year of college.
  • A track record of student success and potential as demonstrated by GPA, research portfolio, prior work experiences and/or the recommendation of a professor preferred.
