Overview

VTG is seeking Technical Writer to support our Virginia Beach office.


What will you do?

Writes and edits moderately complex material for customer reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, working primarily for Federal customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Write, review and edit materials for customer proposals, primarily for the US Government DOD, including:
    • Technical, management and past performance proposals
    • White papers
    • Requirements and other technical documentation
  • Work product will focus on compliance, messaging, and completeness
  • Work closely with proposal writers and volume managers on grammar and formatting
  • Adhere to applicable business development processes and procedures, including tools and
  • document archiving and management, in the execution of the proposal process
  • Assist in establishing and implementing publishing standards compliance
  • Reviews CFRs for the project team to provide technical advice for the recommended actions.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required in the Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M).
  • Prepares program reports for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with program personnel to assess program issues and to develop resolution.
  • Coordinates program activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Writes and reviews change orders request notifications (CORNS).
    • Coordinates change order process between Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Platform Managers, and Task Leaders.
    • Makes changes to the installation drawings to document change order approved scope (redlines)
    • Inserts work associated with approved change orders into POA&M's.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Experience with a technical subject such as computer science, engineering, telecommunications, or IT.
  • Experienced in developing the following types of documentation;
    • Technical Manuals and user guides
    • Policies and procedures
    • Document updating
    • Knowledge of C4ISR Systems
    • Knowledge Articles
    • SOPs

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or communications is desirable
