Practice Director - Advancing Health Promotion

We are looking for the Advancing Health Promotion Practice Director to delight our current customers, anticipate client needs and ensure the highest possible quality and performance for the Practice Area. The Advancing Health Promotion Practice Director will lead the JBS projects focused on the development, planning, execution, and evaluation of communication strategies, programs and products. The Practice Director drives the vision and leadership for the Practice and oversees project operations and management, ensuring efficiency and compliance standards are met. The Practice Director is responsible for project performance contract compliance, customer satisfaction, and financial targets across all projects included in the Practice. The Practice Director communicates clear expectations and measurable outcomes for performance that align with contract and grant requirements and compliance. The Practice Director oversees development and management of an annual Practice Growth Strategy including securing recompete business and identifying new business opportunities related to the Practice Area.

Essential job functions

  • Lead a collection of 10 federal communication projects across NIH, SAMHSA, ACF, and others and establish and implement policies, procedures, and quality control measures to optimize service delivery and project execution.
  • Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals for the Advancing Health Promotion Practice area, aligning with JBS overall strategic goals.
  • Provide vision for the development and growth of the Advancing Health Promotion Practice Area including the development and management of an annual growth strategy and marketing strategies.
  • Develop and manage the Advancing Health Promotion Practice Area's budget; monitor financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and revenue generation, ensuring profitability and sustainability.
  • Leverage technology, data, and market trends to drive operational improvements and innovation.
  • Lead project quality performance reviews and maintain and manage risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Monitor industry advancements and implement strategies to integrate relevant technologies and methodologies.
  • Promote JBS brand and expertise with networks and through presentations and publications.
  • Foster relationships with key stakeholders acting as the primary point of contact for clients and industry partners to enhance the Advancing Health Promotion Practice area's brand and reputation.
  • Identify gaps in customer experience and design actionable solutions to enhance deliverables.
  • Work with JBS Growth Directors to support the capture and proposal development.
  • Directly supervises up to 8 senior staff.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Master's degree in public health, health administration, communications, or relevant field

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years' related experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience applying the Advancing Health Promotion Practice Area disciplines within a State/Federal environment preferred
  • Experience successfully managing a portfolio of contracts
  • Experience managing team of senior staff
  • Experience in client relationship management

Knowledge

  • Substantive subject matter expertise in health communications, promotion, marketing.
  • Knowledge of Government contracting and related performance expectations.
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics.

LOCATION: North Bethesda (Hybrid)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation.
  • Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone.
  • Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents.
  • Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues.
  • Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks.
