Peoria's Development and Engineering Department/Engineering Services Division has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Technician II.

This position provides technical planning, zoning and engineering review of documents and plans, including but not limited to residential, commercial, infrastructure and industrial developments. This is accomplished by the technical application and interpretation of City policies and standards, municipal and site planning principles, conducting research, review and analysis and will alsoprovide counter and phone support for customer inquiries related to engineering and assist customers with the City's development processes and other duties as required for the processing of development projects.

Applicants need to have a strong understanding of engineering and architectural plans and know how to identify potential conflicts between proposed utilities or designs and the existing infrastructure. This includes familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and standards for utilities and construction, ensuring compliance while making necessary adjustments to the design.

• Assist at the public counter answering questions of a technical nature and explain City policies and established procedures
• Maintain detailed records
• Assume responsibility for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Two-year college problem or equivalent combinations resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge or skills.

Experience:

• 2-4 years' experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.

Physical Demands:

• Work requires moderate physical exertion.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certifications or licenses may be required depending on area of assignment.
