We have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Firmware to join our Apex, NC team. You will serve as a technical leader on the development and testing of embedded firmware and systems. You will set technical direction through architectural design, mentoring team members, and directly developing firmware and systems solutions. You will Develop code in higher-level languages such as C/C++ and working closely with electrical engineers to successfully deliver smart products. You will report directly to the Director of IoT for Pentair Pool.

You will:

  • Architect firmware solutions for a portfolio of pool smart products, focusing on hardware abstraction, RTOS implementation, and application-level best practices.
  • Serve as a player/coach, leading technical direction while mentoring team members and actively contributing to firmware development.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on smart product designs, responsible for high-quality firmware solutions as well as partnering with electrical engineers to ensure quality system solutions in our smart products.
  • Incorporate industry best practices in firmware design, tools, methods, and device security.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement in embedded development, setting the standard for engineering excellence.
  • Engage closely with edge, backend, and frontend developers for full-stack delivery of IoT solutions.
  • Define and implement unit test framework and automation for firmware development testing.
  • Serve as a global technical leader, working across US-based and India-based teams to drive common design practice and architecture.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive and relevant firmware and/or software technical leadership experience
  • 10+ years of firmware development experience on embedded products in C/C++
  • 10+ years of experience with stage gate and agile development processes
  • 5+ years of experience with connected smart products and IoT platforms
  • Tech savvy, detail oriented, and highly driven.
  • Proven experience leading distributed teams across different time zones.
  • Knowledge of IoT security and frameworks, with specific focus on device-level security (hardware root of trust, secure boot, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of RTOS development on different chipsets
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and provide technical leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas and information to people at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective leadership and influence without managing directly; ability to lead, influence, engage, and coach others to facilitate knowledge transfer, continuous improvement, and ultimately drive engineering excellence.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $110700 - $205600 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
