Purpose of Position
Position will autonomously perform non-routine administrative tasks, and/or relieve the supervisor of routine and/or administrative duties, and/or provide general secretarial assistance through routine administrative tasks, and/or provide secretarial assistance requiring training in technical terminology, and/or supervise student office support staff.

Non-routine administrative tasks include, but are not limited to, independently formulating decisions and/or judgements involving non-legal interpretation of policies and procedures as they would apply to any given situation to resolve problems, prepare correspondence and/or reports, or to carry out other assignments. Reports to academic and/or non-academic leadership positions.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinates billing and collections processes; runs reports to assess student status. Compiles information gathered from these reports and other sources; makes recommendations to supervisor to address student account issues. Coordinates communication with supervisor to address any issues with student account and/or status.

Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding potential exceptions to established billing or collections policy. Applies agreed-upon adjustments as approved. Maintains balance reports. Reviews and summarizes balance reports in order to inform budget planning process. Assists with creating budget justification.

Coordinates established billing processes for the department: room and board charges, meal plan charges for student-athletes and commuter students, invoices for special groups and guests, additional charges to students, board bill for University dining vendor, etc.

Builds and maintains relationships with constituents across campus to support billing and collections processes as needed. Makes contact with other departments to collect necessary information regarding students or student accounts. Refers students to other departments as needed for additional assistance.

Using knowledge of university processes, makes recommendations to students and refers students to other offices for further guidance.

Coordinates process whereby students may request to drop below minimum required credits or to terminate housing contracts. Collects related data, analyzes information, and makes recommendations to supervisor who has decision authority.

Assists with overall departmental functions, processes, and automation as needed. Represents department at divisional or university meetings to discuss departmental operations as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Serves as a cross institutional liaison for student support in collaboration with student services offices related to enrollment and retention. Interfaces with Biller Direct, Maxient, Academic Advising, Navigate and SAP to assist with student enrollment and retention needs. Is responsible for culminating documents for and communicating to students regarding the Housing Contract Termination Committee.

Provides leadership, direction and supervision to central office student employees. Assists with hiring, evaluation, and accountability of student employees.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in Business Administration, Management Science, Public Administration, or a related field; or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the secretarial and/or administrative professional field to include office management, public relations, budgeting, and/or supervisory principles and/or techniques.

Strong typing and computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and database capabilities.

Good communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail.
