Job Description |
The Summer Conference Resident Assistant position starts on May 14, 2025, with summer training beginning May 15, 2025, and employment will end on August 4, 2025. The time commitment will vary weekly; however, on average the Summer
CRA works about 20 hours per week over the summer term. Although the compensation does include residential space, University Housing reserves the right to assign roommates to staff based on the occupancy needs of University Housing.
Summer Conference Resident Assistants (CRAs) act similar to Resident Assistants by being liaisons and community builders between University Housing and the Summer Conference groups. The
CRA lives and works in residential communities to serve as a resource for summer Conference groups to promote a positive living experience on campus by promoting community and learning. CRAs support the conferences with customer service, assignment processing, an on-call duty rotation, facilities management, administrative tasks, and desk shifts. Additionally, CRAs help to ensure safety, security, and policy enforcement within the residence community and tend to several administrative tasks as designated by their supervisor. Conference Resident Assistants will also play a vital role in preparing University Housing for the fall semester and will be expected to assist with light housekeeping. Also, administrative support will be provided to the housing department and will be supervised by the Coordinator for Residential Services.

Primary Responsibilities |
During summer months Residence Halls may be reserved for internal and external groups interested in utilizing the campus facilities.
While performing the duties of this job, a Conference Resident Assistant is regularly required to:
- Assist with check-ins/check-outs for conference groups, summer residents, and fall residents.
- Provide tours of University Housing for conference groups and prospective students.
- Serve as a resource and liaison for conference groups, ensuring a positive experience.
- Process assignment requests and room inventories/inspections.
- Prepare reports and correspondence for Housing staff.
- Support housing staff with administrative tasks and procedures.
- Assist with facility management and ensure that conference areas are clean and functional.
- Help with light housekeeping and room preparation for the fall semester and conferences.
- Participate in an on-call duty rotation for emergency and after-hours support.
- Provide support to conference attendees by walking scheduled rounds of buildings.
- Respond to issues and concerns in accordance with University protocol.
While serving as a
CRA, working with Desk Assistants (DAs), summer Desk Managers (DMs), summer Resident Assistants (RAs), and other housing staff daily is frequent and common.
Summer Conference Staff must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, able to move through three story building via stairs, able to climb and descend stairs while carrying supplies, materials and/or furniture as needed. |
Qualifications |
A 2.5 cumulative and semester
GPA for undergraduate candidates; 3.5 cumulative and semester
GPA for graduate candidates is required. Must be able to live in University-assigned on-campus housing. Must be available to attend weekly staff meetings and work some nights and weekends. Conference Resident Assistants cannot teach or have an internship during their employment and must have permission of the Coordinator of Residential Services to work an outside job. Outside jobs must be limited to 10 hours a week or less and may be considered for approval but is not guaranteed.
In addition, students must be in good standing with the university financially and behaviorally. All interested students must fill-out an online student employment application and attaching a resume. Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law. |
