As the Director AML & FEVA Compliance, you will assist with the Company's compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), USA PATRIOT Act, other AML (anti-money laundering) program requirements and FEVA (Financial Exploitation of Vulnerable Adults) matters. This management position is responsible for assisting in the development and management of the enterprise-wide program for detecting, reporting, and preventing money laundering and financial crimes.

What you will do:

FEVA: Financial Exploitation of Vulnerable Adults

  • Oversee all work related to FEVA matters, including managing a team of 5 people

  • On behalf of Empower, interact with clients, adult protective services, FINRA, and law enforcement to resolve adult exploitation matters involving Empower clients and assets

  • Manage and develop compliance associates, including (but not limited to) developing analytical skills necessary for appropriate identification of financial exploitation; compliance with FINRA rules, state statutes, and the Senior Safe Act, and reporting to state agencies; reviewing work product and coaching performance

  • Provide direct guidance, support and oversight to FEVA compliance review team associates on FEVA case review, reporting and follow-up; consulting the legal department and cross-functional leadership in determining on the appropriate course of action for resolving FEVA cases

  • Develop "Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Financial Exploitation" annual training course and oversee annual review and update of same by compliance associates to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements; identifies targeted audience to ensure training of appropriate associates, as required by federal regulations to maintain safe harbor

AML: Anti-Money Laundering

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures that govern the company's AML program

  • Review SARs created by staff and, for more complex matters, use the BSA information system to compose customized required SAR filings that describe the reportable event in a complete and compliant manner

  • Manage interactions with the company's investigation areas to ensure timely evaluation of potential suspicious activity, including the development and monitoring of service level agreements for processing of items

  • Oversee the creation of an investigative file management protocol, implement protocol throughout company and oversee the company's adherence to this protocol

  • Assist AML Officer with the design and ongoing implementation of a case management tool to track cases from initial reporting, through investigative stage to possible SAR filing within required timeframes and ensure complete documentation of decisions

What you will bring:

  • 7+ years relevant AML/Fraud experience demonstrating an understanding of complex AML/Sanctions regulatory requirements

  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation preferred. If CAMS designation is not currently held, it must be obtained within one year

  • Strong project management skills and perseverant in completing complex projects timely with high quality

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong leadership/negotiation skills and able to lead diverse groups to achieve common goals

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or four years of directly related work experience in lieu of a degree)

Base Salary Range

$123,000.00 - $178,350.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
