Job Description Terracon is embarking on an exciting new program to develop and grow our Exploration Team Members. We have created a partnership to offer a DOL approved apprenticeship program as a Construction Craft Laborer. In this role you will be on sites, working and observing under an approved and trained mentor - or journeyworker. We will provide a documented training program to ensure you learn all aspects of the role and set you up to grow in your career as an experienced Exploration Team Member (ETM), potentially leading your own crew in time. This is a traveling position. You will be assigned to a home location, at this point we are open to locations, where your initial training will begin. Once the initial training is complete, you will be active in work at your home office and deployed as needed to work on projects across the US, having the opportunity to learn new skills, meet more of our outstanding ETM's and experience new and exciting projects. All this while being an employee owner at Terracon, where our commitment to safety is second to none, and we value each and every person we come in contact with - employees, clients and those in our communities. This is an entry level position. No experience is required. In time, as you move closer to being an ETM, you will perform subsurface exploration duties using conventional drilling or in-situ testing techniques. Drill methods may include auger drilling, mud rotary drilling, air rotary drilling, and diamond bit coring techniques. In-situ testing techniques may include cone penetration testing (CPT), pressure meter testing, and rock dilatometer testing. Work may also include the installation of instrumentation such as piezometers, monitor wells and inclinometers. As part of the apprenticeship program this role will also be involved in the installation and/or of steel test piles for solar project design. Work as part of a multiple person team on projects. ETMs will perform daily tasks including survey and locate drilling points; conduct site reconnaissance; load/unload tooling, materials and samples; classify soil and rock samples; perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on drilling equipment, prepare internal (daily field forms) and external (DOT Logs) paperwork.
