Job DescriptionAn Aircraft Maintenance Technician II performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections as required on all APT program aircraft to ensure airworthiness and safe flight operation. This job requires operational knowledge of fixed-wing aircraft maintenance, repair and inspection techniques, tools and shop safety practices, and maintaining records required by the FAA.

This is a Waco based, on-campus position. The salary range will be commensurate with background and experience and is anticipated to fall between 64k-74k per year with full benefits.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • Performs maintenance on TSTC aircraft while maintaining a comprehensive record of all maintenance work performed, to comply with the FAA and the manufacturer, while providing guidance to Aircraft Maintenance Technician I employees.
  • Performs 100-hour inspections (or annual inspections, if qualified) on aircraft as needed.
  • Positions aircraft for maintenance.
  • Attends maintenance training to enhance skills.
  • May drive departmental vehicles to pick up and/or deliver parts or components. May participate in maintenance test flights.
  • May travel for maintenance and recovery efforts of TSTC aircraft.
  • Makes recommendations to the Director of Aircraft Maintenance regarding the need for tools, equipment, and consumable items that may increase the efficiency of the APT maintenance program.
  • Establish an environment of candor, feedback, and open communication to resolve personnel, workflow and safety issues.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • High School graduate or equivalent. AAS preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in maintaining General Aviation Aircraft.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and tasks.
  • Must have complete set of hand tools.
  • Must embrace a culture of aviation safety and professionalism.
  • Ability to leverage technology to increase efficient operations.
  • Must be eligible to drive a State vehicle.
  • Hold and maintain an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Holding an FAA Inspection Authorization is considered highly desirable.
