Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for financial reporting, job cost accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes while ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. This position requires working through complex accounting issues and developing process improvement and automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have construction industry experience, strong knowledge of general ledger functions, and the ability to collaborate with profit centers to analyze site and project profitability.

Duties & Essential Job Functions

* Lead month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries and financial analysis.

* Reconciled general ledger accounts, bank statements, and job cost reports.

* Assist with the implementation strategies for changes in accounting standards/policies.

* Resolve accounting issues, with a specific focus on investigating accounting variances.

* Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company

policies.

* Collaborate with project managers to monitor construction project costs and profitability.

* Maintain and ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and internal controls.

* Work with external auditors and tax preparers during audits and tax filings.

* Assist in the review of strategic transactions and perform the appropriate accounting.

* Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency in financial

operations.

* Collaborate with profit centers to analyze site and project profitability and assess its impact on commissions.

* Understand key asset and liability accounts, perform reconciliations, and ensure accuracy

in financial reporting.

* Participate in or perform ad-hoc projects as needed.

Basic Qualifications

The successful candidate for our Senior Accountant will have a proven history of high proficiency in core competencies, experience, and education:

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance.

* 5+ years of accounting experience.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and financial reporting tools

* Strong knowledge of debits and credits and a deep understanding of financial statements.

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition) and experience with revenue recognition policies in construction accounting.

* Understanding of ASC 842 lease accounting standards and experience using lease accounting software.

* At least 2 years of experience in the construction industry.

* Experience would preferably include a combination of public and private accounting experience.

* Experience using Blackline account reconciliation software.

* Experience using Smartsheet and Tableau.

* Supervisory experience.

* CPA or CPA Track.

* Strong understanding of GAAP and tax compliance related to construction projects.

* Strong written, verbal, and quantitative skills.

* Ability to think independently to analyze results and financial transactions.

* Ability to multi-task and work overtime as necessary to complete projects and meet deadlines.

* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

* Ability to work well in a team environment.

* Self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision.
