Sr. Plumbing Designer - NYC

General Description: The Senior Plumbing Designer shall be engaged in projects involving, but not limited to, the design of facility related plumbing distribution systems including sanitary, vent domestic water and storm design. Fuel gas systems as well as specialty gas and fluid system design is required.

Overall Responsibility: Supports the undertaking of project teams in the design and delivery of services related to design and construction plumbing systems, as well as the overall project. The Senior Plumbing Designer shall be responsible to the Plumbing Discipline Lead, Project Managers, and local Operations Director.

Essential Functions:

• Provides Project Oversite on assignments with plumbing design scope and coordinates with other disciplines.
• Ensures coordinated design on projects.
• Participates in the design development of plumbing work.
• Creates and reviews drawings, technical specifications.
• Contributes to estimation of projects, planning and construction feasibility.
• Participates in the development of design drawings.
• Able to provide advisory information during the construction phase.
• Able to perform site surveys, contributes to engineering studies and assessment reports.
• Attends and contributes to office, client and project meetings.
• Mentors designers and early career designers by providing guidance during project design.
• Provides direction to BIM/CAD for drawing development.
• Participates in the monitoring of project production and schedules to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Participates in ensures the quality of the work produced maintains high standards.
• Performs engineering studies.
• Performs technical and coordination check-review of project documentation and drawings.
• Follows up on issues with design and production staff to resolve problems and concerns.
• Participates in internal project meetings on a regular basis, including meeting being responsible for minutes.

Secondary Functions:

• Related duties as assigned.
• Supports applicable requests as needed.
• Lends support to all business areas outside of plumbing focus as needed.
• Duties as assigned by the Discipline Lead, Project Managers, and local Operations Director.

Needed Skills:

• Familiarity with software: MS Office, BlueBeam, AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of the International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, and other applicable Building Codes.
• Good communications skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple project deadlines.
• Detail and safety-oriented.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors.
• Understanding of underlying principles of A/E industry.

Education/Experience Minimum:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in a technical capacity reflecting increasing responsibility.

• LEED and CPD credential preferred.
• Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record.
• Valid state driver's license (any in US).
• In possession of appropriate paperwork to gain and maintain employment in the US.
• Ability to meet worksite security requirements including criminal background checks and TSA threat assessment evaluations.
