Description

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and detailed-oriented Summer intern to join our Wafer Fabrication Manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in helping improve manufacturing efficiencies through value stream mapping, process digitalization, and the implementation of Manufacturing 4.0 practices. You will work closely with our manufacturing engineers and cross-functional teams to analyze current processes and contribute to solutions that enhance production performance and streamline operations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in semiconductor manufacturing, process optimization and digital transformation within a cutting-edge, high tech environment.

Responsibilities


  • Value Stream Mapping: Assist in documenting and analyzing current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement, waste reduction, and process optimization.



  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect and analyze production data to generate insights and support process improvements, including identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) for efficiency and performance.



  • Digitalization of Processes: Support the digitalization of workflows, including process automation, creating dashboards, and improving system integration to enhance operational efficiency.



  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with process, equipment, manufacturingengineering teams, production floor,business systems and IT teams to gather information and feedback on process improvements.



  • Process Improvement Support: Assist in identifying bottlenecks, quality issues, and areas for improvements within the wafer fabrication process. Support implementation of solutions.



  • Documentation & Reporting: Help create and maintain process documentation, workflow charts, and reports on current status and improvement progress.



  • Project Assistance: Assist in executing and tracking improvement projects, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within scope.



Required Experience and Skills


  • Strong interest in manufacturing processes, process improvement, and digital transformation.



  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Computer Science, or a related field.



  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex processes and data to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.



  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word) and familiarity with data analysis tools (Python, R, etc.) and basic programming skills.



  • Communication: Strong writtenand verbal communication skills to document and present findings clearly, ability to collaborate across multiple teams.



  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and work independently to solve problems related to process optimization and digitalization.



  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.



  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and detail-oriented with the ability to document and present findings in a clear, concise manner.



  • Proactive: Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively.



  • Eager to Learn: Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and software related to manufacturing and process improvement.



Desired Experience and Skills


  • School-Work: Prior coursework or internship experience in manufacturing, process optimization, or industrial engineering.



  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic understanding or previous exposure tosemiconductor manufacturing processes, especially in wafer fabrication.



  • Industry 4.0 Familiarity:Understanding of digitalization in manufacturing and Industry 4.0 concepts.



  • Process Mapping: Familiarity with value stream mapping, lean manufacturing principles, or Six Sigma methodologies.



  • Software Skills: Experience with digital tools such as ERP systems, MES, and proficiencyin tools suchas Microsoft Visio, Power BI or similar platforms for process mapping and data visualization.



  • Coding Skills: Experience with languages like Python, JavaScript, or SQL for process automation or data collection is advantageous.



  • Project Management: Experience with basic project management tools and methodologies is a plus.

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
