JOB SUMMARY:

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to play a critical role in the success of BioCryst's accounting organization. Reporting to the Director, Global Revenue, responsibilities will include responsibility for revenue accounting, including assistance with monthly close activities, such as reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for Gross-to-Net (GTN) accounts, contract review and documentation, internal controls compliance, and other ad hoc responsibilities. This role will be remote working and based in US, Eastern Time Zone.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies, procedures and reporting in conformity with current FASB and SEC guidance



  • Prepare revenue related journal entries and support, balance sheet reconciliations and perform flux analysis as part of monthly/ quarterly close activities for revenue and related GTN accounts
  • Monitor accrual assumptions underlying the GTN revenue accounting for monthly and quarterly revenue ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and controls
  • Review contracts for revenue accounting implications, obtain thorough understanding of business processes, and maintain organized quarterly meeting schedule to stay up to date on contract changes
  • Prepare technical accounting memos for revenue related contracts, documenting conclusions and proper accounting treatment. Interact with external auditors with respect to accounting conclusions reached
  • Provide advice and assistance to business partners with questions related to the accounting for customer contracts
  • Provide support for independent auditors in their quarterly reviews, annual audits, and walkthroughs including preparation of support for all requests
  • Assist in developing and streamlining internal controls for SOX 404 compliance including design and execution for revenue recognition processes; Create efficiencies and simplification by leveraging technology solutions and automation.
  • Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, or assistance in other projects as needed as part of the larger corporate accounting organization



EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience covering revenue accounting and technical accounting
  • 1-2 years of direct experience with ASC 606 associated with revenue from contracts with customers and public reimbursement. Relevant activities include documenting accounting conclusions on new or modified customer contracts; completion of revenue analysis and presenting to executive leadership for decision-making purposes
  • Big 4 audit experience required- minimum 3 years
  • Experience in a similar role in a publicly traded, multinational company
  • Experience with Gross-to-net accounting
  • Expert operational knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional units and levels within the organization on a regular basis including country managers, legal, market access, and finance
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills including substantial experience with Excel models, accounting principles and financial statement analysis
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills enabling simultaneous management of multiple projects and people
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented with ability to take initiative in a diverse organization
  • Sound judgement and business acumen
  • Strong interpersonal skills, Excellent written, and oral communication skills
