The Senior Principal, Data Science, performs advanced statistical analysis and extracts meaningful insights from large data sets by illuminating business performance drivers and signals for organizational leaders. His/her analysis and insights enable business leaders to make scientific based decisions that lead to strategies and actions that produce desired profitability and return on investment outcomes for the organization.

Pay Class: Full Time Pay: $129,332.40- $172,442.84

Essential Responsibilities:
|
- Support Visionworks' highest priority initiatives with MLOps and MLDev quantitative modeling, forecasting, and data science.
- Partner with cross-functional business leaders to develop and deliver forecasting and data modeling strategies.
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) and design lead developing advanced data modeling and forecasting techniques and architecture.
- Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data for analyses across the retail organization ensuring the accuracy and completeness of data sources.
- Ensure data models are built with sound technical and quantitative foundations that include simple sustaining protocol documentation and necessary redundancies to prevent loss of data as a result of unexpected events.
- Conduct complex analyses to extract insights in these business areas: Traffic/conversion, marketing, pricing, staffing, assortment optimization, and store operations / labor.
- Collaborate with Visionworks leaders to translate insights into business recommendations and proposed scientific experiments to test business driving hypotheses.
- Communicate and explain relevant technical concepts and data model behaviors and outcomes in a clear and concise manner.
- Serve as the senior Data Science individual contributor leader to lesser experienced data scientists sharing knowledge and educating on advanced data science techniques.
- Maintain fluency with the latest advancements in data science methodologies.

Education:
|
- Master's degree in: Statistics, Economics, Mathematics or related field required.
|
Experience & Background:
|
- 10+ years relevant experience required
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence senior executive
- Technical Software Expertise: knowledge of statistical packages (Python, R), databases (SQL) financial modeling (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) Systems implementation experience
|
Language Skills:

- Strong Communication Skills: ability to clearly convey very complex ideas in simple easy to understand ways - both in writing and verbally
- Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of the organization

Mathematical Skills:

- Advanced to expert level understanding in all of the following: Statistics, Machine Learning, Econometrics, and Deep Learning.
