Nisga'a CIOPS provides hands-on experienced services to civilian and DoD programs worldwide. Delivering highly skilled, cleared personnel who provide services on five continents for a portfolio of customers.

Summary:

The Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI) Wireless Engineer is an on-site position located at Joint Base Langley - Eustis AFB, VA. BITI Wireless is the enterprise solution to provide wireless information transport capability across the Department of the Air Force. The program provides standardized unclassified wireless services across numerous facilities and areas located on Air Force and Air National Guard sites. The BITI Wireless system supports CAC authentication, wireless intrusion detection and monitoring capability, and is centrally managed at Langley AFB, Peterson SFB, and McConnell AFB.

The primary role for this position is to support the BITI Wireless capabilities at Langley AFB. The BITI Wireless engineer will provide on-site and remote engineering and integration services for the architecture and integration of products to include system architecture, solution design, performance audits, system reviews, documentation and data migration. Other duties include performing site audits and technical account management such as managing third parties, providing technical assistance and mentoring as directed, as well as providing cybersecurity recommendations in support of ATO within the RMF system.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Core Tasks
    • Provide report tickets resolved and their resolution. Allowing for tracking of common reasons for outages.
    • Block network connectivity and remove rogue Access Points (APs) as identified by base NCCs
    • Block or permit access as required for interfering access points as identified by base NCCs
    • Manage current heat maps in Airwave Management System to include addition of new APs and floor plans
    • Manage/administer all equipment BITI Wireless assets as identified by the BITI Asset Managers and covered underneath the BITI HW/SW list. In accordance with the BITI Wireless ATO.
    • Support AF BITI Wireless users with system configuration management, software/hardware upgrades and troubleshooting of connectivity issues as a Tier 3 resource
    • Coordinate and direct network changes and troubleshooting to support fixed wired infrastructure components
    • Create / respond to tickets associated with down devices and client access issues. Work with local Com Squadron personnel to troubleshoot physical and logical connectivity i.e. Layer 1, 2 and 3 connectivity issues, Active Directory and certificate authentication issues and Dynamic Host configuration Protocol
    • Provide users with guidance to properly configure client devices ensuring successful network connectivity
    • Work closely with OEM network engineers to isolate operational issues and identify corrective actions
    • To assist BITI in conducting various compliance inspections as required (e.g. CORA (CCRI), Scope Edge, NETLAW)
    • Electronically provision new access points and verify network connectivity
    • Electronically re-provision replaced or relocated access points and verifies network connectivity
    • Author processes for configuring and managing BITI Wireless devices
    • Perform and assist with emergency restoration at remote sites
    • Maintain a database of all provisioned access point and controllers
    • Act as a liaison between the BITI Program Office and NOSC
    • Some travel may be required as mission demands
  • Risk & Compliance Management
    • Ensure compliance with DoD, Air Force, and industry security standards.
    • Maintain operational readiness in accordance with procedures and policies.
    • Assist in conducting risk assessments and applying mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent leader with experience in managing staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network and systems infrastructure.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a mission-critical environment.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and technical personnel.
  • Familiarity with U.S. DoD & U.S. Air Force procedures and the Air Force Information Network (AFIN).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A degree in a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience or a total of at least ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Experience supporting DoD Information Network, AFIN or equivalent.
  • Information Assurance (IA) Technician (IAT) Level II Certification
  • A valid and current SECRET (or higher) security clearance.
  • Two or more of the following:
    • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) or equivalent, with experience in Routers, Switches, and Network Fabric
    • Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA) or Certified Wireless Network Associate (CWNA)
    • Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP)
    • Aruba Certified ClearPass Associate (ACCA)
    • Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP)
    • Three (3) years' experience in administration of Juniper & Pulse Secure Network Access Controllers (NAC)
