Attractive pay

Base salary between $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 annually; bonus eligible

Responsibilities

This position will provide legal advice involving a wide variety of subject matter areas, including healthcare, corporate, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and employment. Responsible for anticipating and protecting the Company against legal risks. Assists in monitoring compliance with laws, policies and procedures, and in recommending and assisting with implementation of new policies and procedures.

  • Advises operations and corporate leadership on a wide range of matters relating to healthcare operations, regulatory and compliance issues, employment, and patient concerns.
  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates contracts to ensure compliance with applicable law, regulation, and Company policy guidelines. Analyzes and advises business owners of contractual terms and their implications and finalizes the agreement consistent with the risk tolerance of the Company.
  • Reviews policies and processes for compliance with applicable healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Works with and supervises outside counsel when appropriate on healthcare regulatory and corporate matters.
  • Assists with compliance investigations as needed and coordinates with Compliance Department.
  • Researches legal issues and prepares legal memoranda and correspondence.
  • Keeps abreast of legal developments affecting home health and hospice providers.
  • Makes recommendations regarding changes to Company protocols and procedures as appropriate to reflect applicable legal requirements and industry best practices.
  • Assists in design and oversight of legal and compliance audits.
  • Assists with corporate transactions, including handling legal due diligence.
  • Teaches legal compliance and best practices both formally, through conducting internal programs, and informally, as a member of project work teams.
  • Complies with policies, procedures and regulatory mandates including but not limited to abiding to the terms of the Amedisys Compliance Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required-
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Tennessee (or capable of becoming such based upon admission to the bar of another state).
  • Five (5+) years of experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
Preferred-
  • Five (5+) years of experience in healthcare law, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Experience drafting, revising and negotiating vendor agreements.
