Salary Range: $17/hr

Work Mode: This position requires some regular in-person presence on campus or at alternative locations, depending on business needs of the office.

Work Schedule:M-F 9:00am-2:00pm

Position Summary

The Instructional Support Center Assistant is responsible for the audit and enforcement of best practices and compliance standards related to section creation, modification and cancellation for courses and programs offered by departments in the School of Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD). This includes ensuring section information and setup complies with MHEC standards for hours and FTE collection whenever a section is proposed or modified by a department staff member. This position also works with department staff and the CEWD Business Services team to manage instructor assignments and grade postings. The Assistant works with students, faculty, vendors, staff, and senior administrators.

This position typically reports to an Assistant Director, Manager, or Director.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

* Provides course section maintenance services through the creation and maintenance of databases of current information on courses, enrollments, course locations, room scheduling, financial information and instructor information;
* Provides backup coordination of the scheduling of room assignments for credit and noncredit Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) sections at the Arnold campus, Arundel Mills, and Glen Burnie Town Center locations;
* Actively works to resolve inquiries/issues at point of contact using full range of college systems. Communicates tactfully with instructors and students regarding enrollments, class status, room locations, billing issues, and any problems that arise with regard to course offerings;
* Posts grades/sends CEUs;
* Assists in technology innovation implementation to enhance divisional systems to provide processing efficiencies;
* Generates and maintains files for course information, rosters, and certificates.
* Assists in maintaining a filing system for department documentation;
* Composes/prepares a variety of documents, reports and correspondence using college standard word processing;
* Provides backup office and telephone coverage to disseminate information and respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff and the public;

Other duties as assigned by Assistant Director, Instructional Support Center.

Required Qualifications:

A high school diploma or GED.
Minimum one year of administrative support experience in a business or educational environment.
Demonstrated ability to utilize spreadsheets, database systems, and standard word processing at an intermediate level.
Strong customer service and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive environment and the ability to deal tactfully with all internal and external constituents.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associates degree preferred.

Ability to function with minimal supervision with attention to details and deadlines including the ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to accommodate the needs of the program.
