About the Position As the WIC Program Manager, you will lead a team of over 100 WIC and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling (BFPC) staff who are creative, innovative, passionate about maternal and child nutrition, and seek to make a difference in their community. We Require
- Five years of experience in public health program administration, including two years of supervisory and/or management experience
- Bachelor's degree in public health, community health, nutrition, business, health services administration, social work, or public administration
- Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) through the Commission on Dietetics Registration

Job Contributions
- Plan, organize, develop, direct and evaluate all programmatic activities of the Maricopa County WIC and BFPC Programs. Evaluate operations and activities; Recommend improvements and modifications; Prepare reports on operations and activities. Identify and implement strategic goals and objectives for the WIC program
- Direct and coordinate all human resource functions for the Office including the hiring, supervision, performance review, coaching and counseling and disciplinary actions; directly supervise Office management and supervisory staff; ensure actions comply with County Merit Rules, other County and Departmental policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal employment and labor laws
- Review and approve all supervised employee(s) timecards and other required documents in an accurate and timely manner. Develop and implement corrective action plans
- Interpret and/or develop Maricopa County WIC policies and procedures
- Implement and monitor local, state and federal policies and procedures in collaboration with WIC staff, community agencies, county, local municipalities, state and federal entities to enhance the WIC Program
- Plan, forecast, monitor and administer the annual WIC and BFPC budgets, submit monthly Contractor Expenditure Reports, and prepare quarterly cost summary reports in partnership with Public Health accounting staff
- Establish collaborative relationships with community partners to improve the nutritional status of Maricopa County residents; Represent the Department of Public Health in professional and community organizations; Serve as liaison between the Department, community-based organizations, professional organizations, and other government agencies
- Develop and negotiate grant proposals and contracts for WIC. Research, initiate and manage grant applications to enhance WIC Services
- Plan, organize, develop and oversee procurement and operation of facilities, real estate, resources, and site management/development for WIC Clinic locations in compliance with County and Department policies and procedures
Working Conditions
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
- Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
- Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree
- The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
