JOB SUMMARY: Greet and assist patrons at one of Renton's communities and/or recreation facilities. Due to being highly visible to the public, this position requires a high degree of customer service. These positions will be located at Renton Community Center. We are filling three shifts with this posting:
- Mornings schedule with one weekend a month - Evenings schedule with one weekend a month - Weekends schedule with possible weekday shifts
Hourly Rates: Guest Services 2: $23.00 per hour Guest Services 3: $26.00 per hour *Placement at the various Guest Services levels, is dependent on years of experience and qualifications. SUPERVISION - Recreation Centers: Reports To: Recreation Systems Technician, or Recreation Supervisor and/or Designee Supervises: none ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Recreation Centers:
- Work at front counter welcoming customers, collecting money, processing
registrations, scanning pass cards, handling membership sales, and booking the facility for rentals. - Identify and assess customers' needs to achieve satisfaction.
- Answering the phone to provide general customer service.
- Understand, explain, and enforce facility rules.
- Setting up and taking down program equipment.
- Effective, professional, and respectful interactions with patrons and team members.
- Work as a team player.
- Be ready to work by scheduled start time.
- Understand and follow direction given.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Guest Services 2:
- At least 18 years of age.
- 2 - 3 years of previous work, or volunteer, experience with cash handling
- Successful passing of a required background check.
- Employees 18 and over will be subject to a credit check.
Guest Services 3:
- At least 18 years of age, some positions may require at least 21 years of age.
- 3+ years of previous work, or volunteer, experience related to cash handling.
- Successful passing of a required background check.
- Employees 18 and over will be subject to a credit check.
COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety guidelines and practices.
- Ability to handle conflict and solve problems using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Ability to navigate emergency situations.
- Work with diverse groups of people in a tactful, effective, and respectful manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, the community and program participants.
- Follow instructions, both written and verbal.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Move throughout City facilities and buildings,
- Operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Communicate with City employees and residents.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Noise level is moderately loud.
