CONFINED SPACE RESCUE TECHNICIAN - ASRC TALENT SOLUTIONS


JOB SUMMARY
The Rescue Technician provides technical rescue standby duties for client projects including confined space rescue and technical rope rescue, as well as providing first aid and CPR qualifications. This role's primary function is to provide onsite rescue service while working as part of a standby technical rescue team during industrial maintenance projects. The Technician's skills and expertise will ensure excellent client service, providing precision assistance in various work activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Assists in assessing rescue risk analysis, readying rescue equipment, and planning practical and effective solutions towards safe working practices in compliance with client's standards.
  • In case of a confined space emergency, rescue duties to be performed include locating the patient, assessing any injuries, packaging for extrication, removing casualty from the threatening environment and transferring them to EMS/ onsite MERT for medical treatment and transport.
  • Supervises some safety functions such as rigging up safety equipment and general atmospheric monitoring functions.
  • Maintain knowledge to calibrate and inspect rescue equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and ready for emergency response.
  • Assists in assessing potential hazards and participates in drafting a Confined Space Rescue Preplan and Rescue Response Procedure.
  • Participates in developing the rescue team Task Hazard Analysis document for the project.
  • Identifies and communicates potential hazards to all affected parties.
  • Determines hazard controls and emergency contingency plans.
  • Ensure the required safety equipment and PPE are readily available and in good working order.
  • Conducts general air quality monitoring as needed and makes recommendations for hazard control or personal protective equipment based on the interpretation of this data.
  • Participates in daily toolbox discussions with the team, clients and contractors.
  • Performs on-going monitoring of job conditions/progression, making sure equipment resources are appropriate for the work scope and reports observations and recommendations to rescue lead to assure both worker and team safety is maintained.
  • Renders First Aid and CPR/AED treatments as necessary during rescue responses.
  • Follows handling, inspection, cleaning, and preventative maintenance guidelines for all rescue equipment to be in a constant state of readiness, completes daily inspection/readiness checklist.
  • Participates in maintaining, accurately tracking and documenting all rescue related equipment.
  • Reports daily to direct supervisor to determine the scope of work and assistance needed.
  • Promotes safe job performance while monitoring project activities.
  • Monitor areas for hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Implement client specific safety plans and recommend work practices compliant with OSHA guidelines.
  • Perform 4-gas monitor field calibration.
  • Perform confined space attendant functions as needed.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must have at least three (3) years of related work experience
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must possess critical reasoning skills and be capable of effectively applying them in stressful situations
  • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working with petrochemical, municipal, or industrial safety equipment
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Confined Space Entrant training meeting OSHA regulations
  • 40hr Confined Space Rescue Technician meeting OSHA regulations and NFPA standards


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Alaska North Slope Training Cooperative certification
  • MSHA New Miner certification
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry and in the arctic environment
  • Emergency medical certifications
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness/ Operations or HazWoper certification

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:



  • Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam
  • Required to complete and successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.



The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.


POSITION SPECIFIC PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to remain calm under stress and think logically and quickly during an emergency.
  • Able to render first aid and CPR.
  • Works inside, outside, in confined spaces, over all types of terrain, in all kinds of weather.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, lift, and carry rescue equipment; to work in an elevated state or in confined spaces.
  • Able to work in an industrial environment.
  • Climb to heights over 50 feet. Ladders/scaffolds/ generation equipment.
  • Walking, and standing approximately 60% of the time.
  • Expect long work hours during maintenance outages/shutdowns (12hr shifts minimum).
