Responsibilities
As a Acquisition Logistics Engineer - Mid Level with MTSI, you will play a crucial role in supporting the CGN NB Product Support Manager in a hybrid work setting in San Diego, CA (or fully remote as appropriate), providing critical support to the Service Life Extension (SLE) Space Acquisition operations of the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) and Space Systems Command (SSC). Provides SLE Space acquisition logistics support activities in accordance with DOD 5000.01, DOD 5000.02, DoDI 5000.91, and DoDI 5000.88 in the following task areas: supportability and maintainability impacts (e.g. level of repair analysis); parts and materiel selection; operations and maintenance manpower; personnel and support procedures; training strategy/materials; corrosion and prevention control; and safety and mishap reports associated with materiel and design deficiencies. Your key responsibilities will include but may not be limited to: Logistics Planning & Execution:
- Assist with planning for product support with emphasis on readiness, cost control, schedule adherence, and risk minimization.
- Coordinating with various branches, segments, and contractors to develop optimal support plans.
- MUOS LCSP updates, logistics product development/updates, and CCB logistics impact assessments.
- Assist with managing and completing assigned actions within cost/schedule/performance parameters.
- Capturing, tracking, and managing ILS-related action items.
- Responding to Command data calls and providing necessary logistics support.
- Assist with, updating, and employing studies, plans, reports, and analyses (e.g., PBL BCA, DSOR agreements).
- Developing logistics inputs to other documents (SAR, SCG, APB, ADM).
- Overseeing and managing all MUOS ILS SME assigned ITSM incidents.
Sustainment & Maintenance Operations:
- Providing ground services (ranges, networks, data centers, sensors, training, cyber operations, on-orbit support, operational/depot maintenance).
- Providing support for facility and infrastructure maintenance (feeder links, antennas, terminals, etc.).
- Providing support for sustainment of MUOS ground system hardware and software.
- Supporting the correction of functional defects, cyber defects, and obsolescence issues.
- Analyzing system data logs, call records, performance data, etc., to improve reliability and limit outages.
- Participating in on-orbit investigations by providing risk assessments and recommendations.
- Analyzing safety hazards, failure causes, effects, and trends, and measuring MLDT and MTTR.
System Design & Development:
- Driving relationships between system design parameters and support resource needs.
- Identifying long-lead production items (GFE, GFI, COMSEC) and ensuring proper sourcing.
- Identifying opportunities to integrate advanced maintenance methodologies (e.g., predictive and corrective maintenance).
- Ensuring SLE design compliance with DoDI 4140.67 (Counterfeit Prevention Policy).
- Evaluating ILS impacts of proposed and approved configuration changes.
- Advising and collaborating with stakeholders on design-related support considerations.
- Helping predict and manage parts obsolescence and fostering modernization/design changes.
Technical Documentation & Training:
- Updating, validating, and distributing logistics-related technical documentation (LORA, JDTA, IETM, CBT, sparing strategy).
- Providing logistics inputs to other documents.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
- Advising and collaborating with internal and external program stakeholders.
- Coordinating with other CGN branches and segments.
- Supporting contractors.
- Providing logistics support necessary to enable sustainment of the NBSC systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of DoD logistics experience.
Certifications Desired:
- PMP OR DAWIA PM Level II or Equivalent.
- Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in SATCOM/MUOS.
- Fluency with Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) organizations.
- Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs.
- Experience in Space Systems Command (SSC) acquisition.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
Clearance Requirements:
- Active DoD Secret clearance to start.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
The pay range for this position in California is $90,000/year to $115,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
