How You'll Make an Impact

As an Information Systems Specialist, you will be a critical point of contact for supporting our diverse team of engineers, scientists, and military personnel. You will ensure smooth and efficient technical operations across the organization by troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. Whether working with on-site staff or remotely assisting team members, you will play an essential role in resolving technical problems, managing user access controls, and ensuring systems remain secure and up to date.

Your expertise will help streamline our IT operations, enabling our teams to focus on their core missions. By providing first-class technical support, managing conference room setups, and optimizing system performance, you will ensure that our daily operations run without disruption. Additionally, your keen attention to system maintenance, hardware installation, and security protocols will ensure the organization's technology infrastructure is resilient, secure, and effective.

You Can Expect To

  • Technical Support: Provide frontline technical support to end users on Windows and macOS, ensuring effective problem resolution.
  • Hardware & Software Installation: Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware and software (Dell, Mac laptops, etc.) for end users.
  • User Account & Access Management: Assist in managing user accounts and access controls via Active Directory, Azure, and Office 365.
  • Office 365 Administration: Support SharePoint, Teams, and Power Automate workflows to optimize collaboration and automate processes.
  • System Maintenance: Conduct routine system maintenance, updates, and performance monitoring to ensure smooth operation.
  • Conference Room & AV Support: Provide AV and conference room setup support, ensuring all technical equipment functions properly.
  • Asset Management: Assist with IT inventory management, including hardware and peripherals, and support procurement tasks.
  • Backup & Connectivity Management: Help manage backups and resolve connectivity issues, ensuring data integrity and network stability.
  • Customer Service & Communication: Deliver excellent customer service and clear communication, documenting solutions in the knowledge base for future reference.
  • Project Participation: Contribute to IT-related projects, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Cross-Team Support: Collaborate with other Information Systems teams, including Infrastructure and Cybersecurity, to support ongoing maintenance, vulnerability management, and sustainment efforts.
  • Physical Tasks: Assist with physical tasks such as cleaning IT storage areas, lifting up to 40lbs, and maintaining an organized workspace.
Requirements
  • Proficient in PC, Windows, and macOS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Azure, Intune, and Office 365.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail, with solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Experience in deploying hardware and software across multiple systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Must be willing to work in Aptima's Woburn, MA office 3-4 days/week.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of relevant IT support experience, or equivalent hands-on experience in system administration.
