Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
This is a 20-hour per week position with hours from 1:00 PM till 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. Serves as the first point of contact for the Carmichael Arena with responsibility to greet visitors, students, guests, team members, staff, and coaches. Responsible to help people feel welcome, answer questions, and direct them to other parts of the building. Must be highly organized, friendly, and engaging, and demonstrate the ability to multitask very well. Responsible for accepting deliveries for sports programs, assisting visitors, and overseeing visitor parking. Will use Windows-based applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and ConnectCarolina as well as utilize the internet to locate information regarding the University, as appropriate. Individual must demonstrate an advanced sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction, demonstrate passion for excellence with respect to treating and providing guests and visitors with clear and concise information, both verbally and in writing. Must demonstrate a pleasant, patient, and helpful attitude and provide the highest quality of courteous and positive interaction with all who come to the arena. Must be punctual and dependable! Will provide direct administrative support to two Olympic Sport programs and assist other programs' Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must have demonstrated organizational skills; effective customer service skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; the ability to multi-task; experience that demonstrates the ability to organize office functions. Must demonstrate a highly developed sense of integrity and commitment to customer satisfaction. Ability to understand, with full awareness, the mission, goals, policies, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the University, the Athletic Department, the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the NCAA. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and comfortable learning other computer-based applications.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge of or experience with ConnectCarolina, Concur expense management software application, purchase orders and reimbursements. Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail is essential. Must have the ability to multitask, be very flexible, organized, have effective interpersonal skills and ability to change priorities to meet the demands of a dynamic office environment. Bachelor's degree and previous work experience in an Athletics office setting is helpful.

Ability to work in high volume, dynamic work environment and ability to multi-task in order to deliver concise and accurate information in a timely manner.
Must have the ability to occasionally ascend/descend stairs in parts of the building without an elevator.
