Hunter Hamilton is currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Cash Application Specialist to join our client's team in Glenview, IL. This temporary-to-hire position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong cash application experience to contribute to a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Cash Apps Specialist will work on site in Glenview and should have at least 3 years of cash applications experience or related education. Intermediate Excel skills are a must as well as ERP experience, AS400 is a plus. Hunter Hamilton offers hourly/weekly pay, direct deposit and temporary health benefits!


Key Responsibilities:


  • Apply cash and wire/EFT receipts accurately to the ERP system, ensuring balances tie back to the bank daily.



  • Open, sort, and process mailed-in checks, scan checks for deposits, and handle credit card transactions.



  • Research and resolve discrepancies between remittance details and ERP records by collaborating with customers and AR Specialists.



  • Identify and document customer deductions, escalating issues as necessary.



  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customer payment portals and remittance processes.



  • Organize and retain daily posting and balancing files for audits and issue resolution.



  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures while confidently challenging questionable requests.



  • Assist in achieving departmental and company goals through proactive problem-solving and analysis.



  • Maintain formal cash application policies, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.



  • Support management with performance metrics, problem resolution, and ad hoc projects.



  • Research and apply offsets for short payments, sales tax issues, and non-compliance charges.



  • Evaluate cash application system processes to ensure alignment with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and internal audit controls.



  • Communicate any significant collection or cash application issues affecting company financials.




Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required; 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent education/experience combination.



  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume transactions accurately.



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.



  • Experience working with AS/400 or similar ERP systems is a plus.



  • Excellent data entry, ten-key, and organizational skills.



  • Ability to read and interpret financial documents and communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.



  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while following established processes.
