Dr. Steven Jacobsen's lab at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to support their lab operations. Steve Jacobsen wants to understand DNA methylation and epigenetic gene regulation processes that play important roles in development, defense against transposons, and genome integrity. Working in the model plantArabidopsis, Jacobsen and his team focus on the mechanisms by which DNA methylation, histone methylation, and noncoding RNAs converge in overlapping pathways to promote stable and heritable repression of gene transcription. Understanding the mechanisms used to turn genes on and off could inform development of improved cancer therapies, among other advances. The lab also works on genome editing tools for plants with the goal of crop improvement. More information can be found on the lab's website: https://research.mcdb.ucla.edu/Jacobsen/LabWebSite/P_Index.php About the Administrative Coordinator role: This position provides high level administrative budgets and grants management support to the Investigator and research staff in a fast-paced environment.
