POSITION SUMMARY Performs a variety of painting tasks in support of the various services provided by the Physical Plant Department. - Paints walls, equipment, offices, rooms, outdoor structures using brushes, spray gun or rollers.
- Removes old paint to prepare surfaces prior to painting.
- Mixes colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.
- Sands surfaces between coats and polishes final coast to specified finish.
- Washes and treats surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations.
- Mixes and matches colors of paint, stain, or varnish.
- Fills cracks, holes and joints with caulk putty, plaster, or other filler, using caulking gun or putty knife.
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to work above ground level.
- Order supplies and maintains inventory.
- Attends appropriate training programs to maintain currency in skilled trade.
- Supports the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Experience: Five years of relevant painting experience. SKILLS & ABILITIES Other Requirements: Good knowledge of the material methods and tools involved in institutional painting. Good painting skills and problem-solving abilities. Well organized and able to work well independently. Able to coordinate well with others and professionally assist others as needed. Attentive to detail. Able to use equipment and supplies appropriate for institutional painting. Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness. Some skills in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
