Ignite Digital Services is seeking a early-level optical engineer to support our Government clients with optical experimentation and related test and evaluation. This role is critical to ensuring the successful definition and maturity of optical systems. This role will support the research and development and transition of optical systems.

Responsibilities:



  • Define system requirements for optical systems including size, weight, and power, operating wavelengths, and additional electrical components such as RF sources
  • Develop and execute test plans for validating system performance and reliability
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to optical systems and components
  • Assist with defining system interfaces and APIs for enabling interactions across applications and sub-systems
  • Perform trade-off analysis on power, weight, and other attributes to determine package requirements
  • Document system specific modularity and interoperability between systems platforms
  • Collect and organize broad scale optical system capabilities. Evaluate platforms for capability and integrate into a modular, interoperable architecture
  • Capable of independent work with regular check-ins with project leads including the ability to take the initiative within project boundaries.


Qualifications:



  • 2-4 years of experience in experimental optics.
  • Masters of Science in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Familiarity with project management and common programming/laboratory interface computing (e.g., Python, Java, MATLAB, LabView)
  • Familiarity with optical systems and their design


Salary: 90k+ to align with education and experience

Schedule: Hybrid 2-3 days a week onsite
