The annual pay range for this position is $142,418 - $155,000.00.

How You Will Contribute:

Duties: Drive new Transport and IP/Packet sales initiatives for Ciena Solutions for Tier 1 customer, leading customer product solution discussions and presentations demonstrating how Ciena transport, packet and software solutions accelerate time to service and time to revenue. Utilize knowledge of transport solutions across all networking layers and services domains and customer applications to build evolution and transition plans based on a deep understanding of the customer's present mode of operation, as well as a full range of portfolio solutions, including SDN and Orchestration. Partner with Product Line Management and Solution teams, to define testing methodologies for customer testing through succinct presentations and trusted relationships. Provide strategic technical advice and business model support to sales managers to understand new product developments and its applicability in business use cases, technology positioning, differentiation, written proposals and quotes. Offer technical guidance in the preparation of quotes, RFP's RFX's and forecasts, assisting in the development of pricing strategies and incentives to win business. Drive architecture discussions that incorporate Transport, Carrier Ethernet, Adaptive IP, Network Management, SDN/NFV/Cloud, and virtualization and perform network designs using Ciena's network design and modeling tools for customer applications and requirements base on Ciena's networking products. Lead technical tasks such as lab trials and product demonstrations, including written proposals (RFPs), and complex network designs.

10% Domestic Travel Required. May telecommute from anywhere in the United States.

The Must Haves:

Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking, or related field and five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Resident Engineer, IP/Packet-related occupation.

Position requires 60 months of experience in the following:

* Architecting multilayer transport/IP and carrier Ethernet Networks;

* Fiber optics transmission systems, OTN, Coherent transmission, ROADM technology, DWDM link engineering, Layer-0 Control Plane, Layer-1 Control Plane, telecommunication networks, and network management system;

* IP, Ethernet, MPLS and Core Routing/Switching technologies and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, IGRP, G.8032, MPLS-TP, and 802.1ag;

* YANG models, NBI Open APIs, ONF transport API model, SBIs such as Netconf and Open Flow; and

* Long-haul transport, metro DWDM, optical evolution. and packet transport.
